I get that people don’t like cops right now. Hard to imagine that a few weeks ago McDonalds was giving them free food and Sams Club was letting them in the store early. But all of that aside. I get the “we don’t want them arresting our kids in school” and “we don’t think our kids should have to see a uniformed police officer in school.” But that School Resource Officer is the two way link between what is occurring in the school, and what is occurring in the community. How many acts of violence have been prevented in the school or in the community, because that School Resource Officer is linked in with the police department, and especially the intel people in the police department? What’s replacing that? What’s the new response time for an emergency at school that used to be seconds? If you know a school principal, pull them aside and ask them how they really feel about this decision? If you are a parent in one of those schools, your kids are less safe. I’ll ask again, what’s the new plan?
